METASTAIZATION

METASTASIS Metastases in colorectal cancer most often affect the liver, lymphatic system, bladder, less often – lungs and other organs. Single and multiple metastases in the liver cause additional digestive symptoms – nausea, vomiting, excess bile.

The liver is enlarged, which causes a constant swelling of the abdomen, pain in breathing, palpitations may occur. At the stage of metastasis, the temperature often rises in the liver, itching, yellowing of the skin, widening of the veins on the stomach

. A frequent complication in stage 4 of rectal cancer with liver metastases is ascites – an excessive accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity. The fluid is removed by surgery.

Multiple metastasis of the liver almost does not leave a chance for patients – within a few months, a lethal outcome is likely due to acute hepatic insufficiency. Metastases can also affect the lungs, causing violations of respiratory functions: dyspnea; a persistent cough, sometimes with blood and sputum; constant low-grade fever; pain in the chest and a feeling of restraint.
