Marked changes in the cardiovascular system

Marked changes in the cardiovascular system determined many complaints and clinical manifestations in 78% of lung cancer patients treated in the clinic. Most of them had various manifestations of age-related cardiosclerosis, which in 1.5% of patients were accompanied by heart failure that developed prior to hospitalization with the appearance of edema of the lower extremities. Half of the observations of age-related cardiosclerosis were combined with pneumosclerosis, pulmonary emphysema, and chronic bronchitis.

General atherosclerosis was manifested mainly by sclerosis of cerebral vessels with corresponding disorders. Two patients suffered cerebrovascular accidents in the past on this basis. In 20 patients, the clinical manifestations of general atherosclerosis were characterized mainly by vascular lesions of the lower extremities with clinical manifestations of this disease. Three of them in the past on this occasion performed a lumbar sympathectomy.

Clinical manifestations of stage 2 hypertension were established in 25 patients who were operated on for lung cancer in a far advanced stage of the disease.

Very characteristic and most natural in patients with lung cancer are impaired activity and aggravation of the course of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Corresponding complaints were presented by 65 patients who had a stomach ulcer or duodenal ulcer, and 12 of them had undergone various surgical interventions in the past. 8 people suffered from chronic calculous cholecystitis. A study of the pathogenesis of worsening the course of chronic diseases of the digestive system in lung diseases and especially the development of a cancerous tumor in them is confirmed by the studies conducted in our clinic. The relationship and mutual aggravation of pathological conditions in the lungs and organs of the gastrointestinal tract become largely understandable if we keep in mind both the commonality of their embryogenesis and the common binding motor-regulatory mechanisms throughout a person’s life. Urolithiasis, exacerbation of chronic pyelonephritis, as well as impaired urination due to changes in the prostate gland made up a circle of complaints in 5% of patients with lung cancer. Many of them had various disorders and received treatment for diseases of the endocrine glands: diabetes mellitus, thyrotoxic goiter, adrenal adenoma, hyperinsulism.
